Spanish Mackerel are another fun fish to catch here in Homosassa.  Fishing for them is pretty easy.  They are a school fish and travel in fairly large groups.  It is much easier to have them find you, than you finding them.  An easy way to do this is CHUM.  If the Spanish are in the area, a chum slick will bring them behind an anchored boat very quickly.  From that point on, it is pretty easy to catch them, Shrimp under a bobber, small spoons and jigs or cut bait will all work.

Spanish are another fish I do not care to eat so no advice on cooking them.  I keep a few for chum and cut bait.  Mostly this is a catch and release fishery for me.  Be careful when handling the Spanish, they have many small razor sharp teeth and can give you a nasty cut in a minute.
